Montevideo Park

Frank Maples was Donald Ross' right-hand man and the unsung hero of Pinehurst. As superintendent, he was there step-by-step with Ross and he had more to do with Pinehurst becoming what it is than is known. #2 was largely crafted by his hand. After Pinehurst was well established he got the chance to design his one and only course: Montevideo Park. He did the design as part of a huge 500 acre tract with an ornate hotel and housing. Unfortunately, the Depression put a halt to that. The only thing that remains is the entrance on Poplar St. in Aberdeen.
